Introducing Visa payWave - the latest contactless card payment technology. payWave cards have an additional contactless chip (in addition to EMV chip which is used for dipping the card in the payment terminal). It will help you spend less time at the cash counter and give you the freedom to do the things that matter most to you. For transactions up to Rs. 5000 in India, you can pay simply by waving your payWave card near a payment terminal. There is no need to even enter your credit card PIN. payWave cards are as secure as any other chip card. They carry the same multiple layers of security, which ensures that you are safe from fraudulent or unauthorized transactions.

Step 1: Look for the payWave symbol on the payment terminal.
Step 2: Wave your card near the payment terminal.
Step 3: Go when it beeps or green light blinks.
*Please note that the requirement for PIN entry on the POS terminal at the merchant outlet is a function of country specific regulations and is subject to change. PIN input is not mandated for purchases below the permissible local limit.
Please note that the permissible transaction limit for usage of credit cards in contactless mode in India is mandated by RBI and may change from time to time based on the latest regulations. As per RBI notification on Additional Factor authentication for contactless transactions dated December 04, 2020, PIN input is not required on the POS terminal at the merchant outlet for contactless transactions up to a maximum value of Rs. 5,000 per transaction. Additionally, beyond this transaction limit, (above Rs. 5,000) the card has to be processed in Chip & PIN mode and authentication with PIN is mandatory.

For Kotak Credit Cards issued before 1st Oct’20 : Look for the Contactless Indicator on your card. If your card has the contactless indicator, you can start using your card for contactless transactions immediately.
For transactions up to Rs. 5000 in India, you can pay simply by tapping your card on the Contactless Indicator at payment terminal which supports contactless transactions. There is no need to even enter your credit card PIN. For transactions over Rs. 5000, insert/swipe your card followed by 6 digit PIN. International limits for Contactless transactions are governed by regulations of that country.

You should keep your card safe and block it immediately if it is lost or stolen or you suspect unauthorized transactions.
No, the cashier will have to input the amount in the terminal to activate the reader before the card can be tapped. Also, the card must be held within 4 cm of the contactless reader.
All credit cards issued/replaced are enabled for payWave/contactless payments. In case your card doesn’t support contactless payments, you can place request for card replacement via Net banking/mobile banking or calling our customer experience centre at 1860 266 2666 (local charges applicable).
