In 1985, 26-year old entrepreneur Uday Kotak founded Kotak Capital Management Finance Ltd., which later became Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd. (KMFC).
His vision was to eventually turn it into a banking company. And in 2003, it came to life, with KMFC becoming the first non-banking financial company in India’s history, to be converted into a bank. Today, it is regarded as one of the country’s most high-performing banks, built on the principles of simplicity and prudence. Under his leadership, the company has grown exponentially in the last three decades, both in scale and stature.
Uday has a strong focus on community development and inclusive growth, which reflects in the group's initiatives to provide low-cost services to rural customers, and its welfare programmes. He is a firm believer in the power of learning, and has established the Kotak Education Foundation, focusing on the needs of underprivileged children.
Uday holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and an MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.
