That is why the Government has stepped in and has introduced Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). In accordance with ‘Housing for All by 2022’ mission, this initiative will fulfil the housing needs of the mid-income to economically weaker segments and will also assist in provision of houses to all eligible families/beneficiaries by 2022. This route map will augment betterment of the society, thus boosting the economic growth of the country.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) : People who earn an annual household income less than Rs.3 lakh per annum come under the EWS category.
  • Light Income Group (LIG) : People who earn an annual household income ranging between Rs. 3 lakh to 6 lakh per annum come under the LIG category.
  • Medium Income Group I (MIG I): People who earn an annual household income ranging between Rs. 6 lakh to 12 lakh per annum come under the MIG I category.
  • Medium Income Group II (MIG II): People who earn an annual household income ranging between Rs. 12 lakh to 18 lakh per annum come under the MIG II category.


Additionally the scheme is also applicable for people hailing from minority groups and also Women belonging to EWS/LIG categories.


Key Features:

  • Home loans are offered with an interest rate subsidy of 6.5% for a tenure of up to 15 years
  • Senior citizens and the differently-abled people will be preferred during allocation of houses
  • Eco-friendly compliant
     

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will add to the affordability of prospective home buyers and thus augment a better lifestyle for home aspirants. Endeavoring to provide a roof over the head, PMAY will make significant contributions to the Nation.
