Please ensure that you make the payment 4 days before due date as billers take up to 3 working days to update the payment.

How much time does it take to register a new biller?

Registration for a new biller is dependent on biller’s bill cycle. Usually, a registered bill can be paid in the next bill cycle post registration. In case of billers where anytime payment is allowed, payment can be made immediately after registration

What is the procedure for bill payment?

 You can make your payments in 2 ways using any of the above listed channels-

  1. Add Billers and Make Payment – Through this method, you will first have to register your biller and then, the biller will be available for payment. You will also get a notification on generation of the bill, for which you can set ‘Auto Pay’, which will lead to automatic payment of your bill and your account will get debited automatically on the due date. 
  2. Make Payment without Registration– Customers can make payments without registration under the “Make Payment using Bharat Bill Bay Section”. This service is available only in Net Banking, after login and is limited to certain billers only as all billers do not support payments without registration.

How do I add a new biller for payment?

Simply login to your Kotak Net banking or Kotak Mobile App, click on Bill Pay/Recharge & click on Add Biller option .Enter your Biller Details & submit. Your registration will be done successfully.

How do I pay my bills using Kotak Mobile application?

Download the Mobile Banking application by sending a SMS to K MOBILE to 9971056767/ 5676788 from your preferred Mobile Number registered with us or call up our 24 Hrs Customer Contact Centre.

 

Post download, to activate the application on your handset, please call our 24x7 Customer Contact Centre at 1860 266 2666.

To pay using mobile banking; you first need to add/ register a biller on Kotak BillPay, log on to Net Banking. Alternatively, you can call up our 24 Hrs Customer Contact Centre or visit the nearest branch.

This facility is not available on this platform for payments using Kotak credit card.

What is the eligibility for using Kotak BillPay on Net Banking?

For BillPay using bank account: This facility is available to you if you are registered for Net Banking with transaction rights on "Net Banking" and have at-least one Savings Account or Current Account with independent operating rights.

 

For BillPay using Credit Card: This facility is available to you if you are registered for Dynamic Access Code enabled Net Banking with transaction rights and have at-least 1 Kotak Credit Card. If you do not have a net banking password, follow the below steps:

  •       Visit www.kotak.com
  •      Click on Secure Login button below Net Banking
  •      A new Window will open, click on Get Net Banking Password online instantly & securely
  •      Follow the steps as prompted by the system & you will receive your Net Banking Password.

If I register a biller, will it automatically be debited from my account on the due date?

No, your Account/Credit Card will not be debited of the bill amount automatically unless you have registered that biller for AutoPay.

To enable AutoPay, you will have to login to the Kotak Mobile Banking App or Kotak Net Banking and pay the bill or call the Customer Experience Centre or give instructions to the branch by submitting the BillPay Request for bill payment.

Are there any limits on the number of payments/ transaction amount that I can make using Kotak BillPay?

There are no limits on the number of payments or transaction amount. You can pay as many bills as you want. However, please ensure you have sufficient balance/available limit in case of Credit Card.

What is the difference between ‘Pay Bill’ and ‘Instant pay’?

Following are the differences:

Pay Bill – registered billers electronically present bills to you. Against the presented bill, you can use the ‘Pay Bill’ option to make the payment.

Instant Pay – you can use ‘Instant Pay’, if you wish to make payments for unregistered billers or in the case of registered billers, make a payment without waiting for the bill to be presented. Specific billers accept interim/ad-hoc payments. You can make interim payments to such billers using the Instant Pay option.

You also have the option to Pay Now or Pay at a later date or set up AutoPay.

Which are the operators for whom recharge can be done?

For Prepaid mobile phones, you can carry out a recharge for the following operators:

Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, Idea, BSNL, MTNL Mumbai, MTNL Delhi, Tata Indicom, DOCOMO, JIO

Below are the DTH operators:

What is the biller registration process?

To start receiving bills online through Kotak BillPay, you must add the biller in Kotak BillPay via Net Banking, Mobile banking, Phone Banking or by visiting any Kotak Branch.

The process starts with providing details as required by the biller. Once you click on ‘Register’ and confirm your registration, the request for adding the biller will be accepted. Once your biller details are verified by the biller, you will start receiving bills from the next billing cycle.
If the biller details do not match details maintained at the biller’s end, the status of the biller will be shown as ‘Rejected’ in the ‘View/Delete’ section and you can enter biller details afresh.

Can I pay bills for my family and friends using Kotak BillPay?

Yes, you can pay bills for others from your bank account after giving the specific biller details.

Do all the billers accept payment using Credit Card?

Majority of the billers accept payments via the Kotak Credit Card. However, you will not be able to make Visa Credit Card Payments, Get Money or pay Direct Taxes with your Kotak Credit Card.

How much time does it take to complete the biller registration process?

To start receiving bills online through Kotak BillPay, you must register the biller in Kotak BillPay.

 

The biller registration process consists of providing details as required by the biller; these details are will normally be available on the bill you have most recently received.

The request for adding the biller will be accepted, once you click on register and confirm your registration. Once your bill details are verified by the biller, you will start receiving your electronic bills from the next billing cycle.

If the biller details do not match details maintained at the biller’s end, the bill will not be presented and the status of the biller will be shown as ‘Rejected’ in the ‘View/Delete’ section to enable you to enter biller details afresh.

How do I delete a payment that is scheduled for Pay Later?

You can delete the scheduled payment till the time it is not processed from scheduled payments folder.

On the net banking section select My Billers from Bill Pay / Recharge Section. Click on View / Delete Scheduled Payments. Select your biller and click on delete to delete the scheduled payment of biller

How will my biller know that I am using Kotak BillPay?

You need to provide your customer account information (each biller requests for information specific to its requirements) while adding a biller.

This information will be sent to the biller for verification. The biller will verify these details so that bills can be presented to you and you can make payments to them. If the biller accepts the details you will start receiving the billpay alert. In case details are rejected, the same will be informed to you.

I have already registered the biller with a different bank - Can I register the same biller with Kotak BillPay?

You can register the biller with Kotak BillPay, even if the same bill is registered with another bank. You will receive bills for the same at Kotak BillPay too.

How will I know when my bill is presented?

When a new bill is presented, we will send you an email and SMS notification on your Email ID and mobile number registered with the bank.

You can then login to Net Banking/ Kotak Mobile Banking App/ SMS/ Call the 24 hour Customer Experience Centre or visit your nearest Kotak Mahindra branch to pay the bill.

Can I make payments without registering for the biller?

You may make payments without registering via “Quick Pay using Bharat billpay” on the netbanking section however this service is limited to certain billers which allow anytime payments

Kotak BillPay is a value-added service provided to you. You always have the option of paying the bill through any other mode - e.g. Cash/Cheque/Payment Gateway (payment from biller’s website).

How do I enable AutoPay for a biller?

Auto Pay can be set for the biller while registering your biller itself.

In case you wish to apply Autopay for a registered biller, it can be enabled on Kotak Net Banking/ Kotak Mobile Banking App by using the ‘Set/Modify AutoPay’ option in Bill Pay section and clicking on ‘Set’ against the registered biller. 

To enable AutoPay at our 24 Hrs Customer Contact Centre, please provide specific biller details to the Customer Care Officer.

For enabling AutoPay at the Branch, please submit the BillPay Request Form providing Biller and AutoPay details.

AutoPay will be effective from the next billing cycle. For bills which have already been presented before you have given AutoPay instructions, please use the ‘Pay Bill’ option.

Please Note: You can set AutoPay via credit card only if Dynamic Access Code is registered.

If you are setting Auto Pay via Kotak Credit Card, please make sure of the following:

  • You must have logged in Kotak Net Banking using Dynamic Access Code.
  • Once you have set up Auto Pay, do not de-register for Dynamic Access Code else, the payment will fail on the Schedule date.
  • Your Kotak Credit Card should be in Active stage i.e. there are no blocks due to non-payment of dues.
  • The payment will be successful if you have the available credit to process the transaction.

Can I set up AutoPay for all types of billers?

Yes, AutoPay can be set up for majority of the billers.

For ‘Presentment’ and ‘Presentment & Payment’ type of billers, you will be given the option to pay the entire bill amount or set an AutoPay limit. Presented bills will be paid as per the limit set by you.

For ‘Payment Only’ type of billers you can choose the frequency of payment (monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annually), payment date, start date and end date and payment amount. The amount will be paid on the date specified

Simply Click on Delete against the bill scheduled for auto payment in the ‘Scheduled Bill’ option. The bill will then move from the ‘Scheduled Bill’ option to ‘View/Pay Bills’.

If I delete a scheduled bill, will I be able to make the payment through Kotak BillPay?

Yes, once you delete the bill, the same will move to ‘View/Pay Bills.’ You can pay your bills 4 days prior to the due date.

What is an AutoPay limit? If my bill amount exceeds the AutoPay limit, will the bill get processed?

AutoPay limit is an amount specified by you, above which if a bill is presented, the same will not be paid.

E.g. if you have set a limit of Rs. 500 for MTNL biller, and the bill presented to you is Rs. 510 - the entire bill will not get processed automatically. If the bill amount exceeds the AutoPay limit, the bill will not get paid automatically. Such bills can be paid through ‘View/Pay Bill’ up to three days prior to the bill due date.

How many days prior to the due date are bills processed through AutoPay?

For ‘Presentment’ and ‘Presentment and Payment’ type billers- Bill will be processed 4 days prior to the due date through AutoPay.

 

 Incase of ‘Payment Only’ type of billers’ payments will be made as per the payment amount, frequency of payment, date of payment mentioned by you.

Yes, this is possible for payment only type of billers. You can specify the payment amount, frequency of payment (monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annually), payment start date and end date.

Do I get any proof or receipt for bill payment using Kotak BillPay?

On successful payment of your bill, Kotak BillPay will display the confirmation page, which will contain your transaction reference number.

 This page can be printed and used as proof of payment. In addition, you can view the list of successful payments under ‘Payment History’.

What will happen if I have a dispute with the biller?

We will assist you in every possible manner to provide you with information on the bills presented and payments that you have made.

 However, please note that Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited will not be responsible for settling disputes between the biller and you relating to the amounts billed to you. For any specific charge that you might wish to dispute or discuss in a specific bill, you would need to contact your biller directly.

Can I cancel my payment made using Kotak BillPay service?

A payment once made cannot be cancelled. However, if you have made a double payment the same will be adjusted by the biller in your next bill.

Can I request for revocation of Kotak Bank BillPay service?

All customers are eligible for Kotak BillPay. In case you do not want to pay through Kotak BillPay, you can pay your bills through the regular mode of cheque, cash etc.

When does the payment actually reach the billing company?

Bill payment will be updated by the billing company in 3-4 working days. Hence you are requested to make the payment at least 3 days before the due date, to ensure the payment is updated by the biller on time and to avoid any service disruption or late payment charges.

How do I view my past bills?

Kotak BillPay service provides you the option to view your transaction details under the ‘Payment History’ section. Prior transactions of up to 365 days will be available.

What is recharge facility used for?

Recharge on Kotak BillPay is used for recharging your prepaid mobile number or DTH account instantly.

How do I recharge my prepaid phone or DTH account?

You can use Kotak BillPay recharge facility on Kotak Net Banking and Kotak Mobile Banking App. Alternatively you can call up the 24-Hrs Customer Contact Centre or visit the nearest branch for the same.

 On Net Banking, post login, click on 'Prepaid Recharge' option under BillPay / Recharge section. Enter your correct mobile number/ subscriber number and choose your bank account/Linked Credit Card to be debited for instant recharge.

On the Kotak Mobile Banking App, Click on Mobile Recharge under Billpay Section. Enter your correct mobile number and choose your bank account / Linked Credit Card to be debited for instant recharge.

On successful debit of your account, the recharge will take place instantly, provided the recharge details are entered correctly.

Is there any confirmation that I will receive post debit of my account for recharge?

Kotak Mahindra Bank will send you an alert on payment success (when your account is debited) and Payment failure (in case of payment failure) to your preferred email ID and mobile number registered with the bank.

 Additionally, also on successful recharge, mobile/DTH operator will send the confirmation of recharge through SMS on your mobile phone. In case you do not receive any confirmation, please check with your mobile/DTH operator.

Few of the common reasons are:

 

  • Non-existent mobile number/DTH account number.
  • Postpaid Mobile number / DTH account number that does not pertain to the chosen DTH operator.
  • Mobile number which does not pertain to a specified operator.

Is there any limit on amount to be recharge for prepaid phone or DTH account?

There is a daily transaction limit of Rs.10,000/- for prepaid mobile phones and Rs.10,000/- for DTH top ups.

What will happen if I enter an incorrect mobile number or DTH subscriber number?

Once the transaction is made, your request for recharge is sent to the operator. If the mobile number is not available with the operator, the recharge will fail and refunds will be processed within 2 working days.

However, if the mobile number provided is available with the Operator, it would be recharged, even if a wrong number was entered by the customer, and no refunds would be available.

What is Pay Later?

You have the option for making a Payment at a later date for a registered biller.

  • For Presentment billers you can schedule the payments up to 4 days prior to the due date.
  • For billers that accept adhoc payments, you can schedule payments on any date within 6 months.

If you are scheduling any payment for Pay Later via Kotak Credit Card, please make sure of the following:

  • You must have logged in Kotak Net Banking using Dynamic Access Code
  • Once you have scheduled the bill, not de-register for Dynamic Access Code else, the payment will fail on the Schedule date.
  • Your Kotak Credit Card should be in Active stage i.e. there are no blocks due to non payment of dues.
  • The payment will be successful if you have the available credit to process the transaction.
