Kotak Chip and PIN Credit Card

EMV is a technology being used by banks to mitigate the risk of Cards being used fraudulently at Point-Of-Sale (POS) terminals or ATMs. An EMV Chip and PIN card is the new global payment standard and It offers the highest level of security. The embedded chip in your credit card helps protect against counterfeiting and skimming card frauds. PIN will protect your card in case of loss/theft.

PIN(Personal Identification Number) is a 6 digit number you will receive after you receive your Chip Card within 7 working days. You can also generate / change your PIN online via Net Banking , Mobile Banking and IVR. Click here for more details. Please note that the PIN is critical for all POS terminal transactions like transactions at fuel stations, supermarkets, departmental stores etc and cash withdrawals at ATM's with Credit Card. Kindly keep this PIN secure and do not share it with anybody. Please note that you 6 digits Credit Card PIN is different from your Debit Card ATM PIN.

Once you receive your new card, you should cut and dispose off your old card securely

A Chip Card is just like a normal credit card, but with the addition of an embedded microchip. The same is to be inserted into a Point-Of-Sale (POS) card reader, as opposed to a regular swipe

• The merchant enters the amount to be paid by you. Kindly enter the PIN when the machine prompts for it
• On verifying the amount, the receipt will be printed
• Kindly sign the charge-slip on verifying the amount

• When you make a purchase, present your Kotak VISA Chip Credit Card at the Merchant establishment
• Your card will be inserted into a chip reader and will be visible to you till the transaction is complete. In case the merchant establishment does not have a chip reader, the card can still be used with the help of the magnetic stripe
• Please enter the PIN yourself when the machine prompts for PIN. Never reveal your PIN to anyone. Sign the Charge-slip post entering the PIN

• In case you have applied for an International card, the limit assigned on this card can be utilised completely for international transactions. Should you wish to reduce the limit on your credit card, please call our 24-Hour Customer Contact Centre at 1860 266 2666
• Your credit limit is the total limit assigned to your card account for usage, including the usage of Add-on cards, if any

• Note that your card is a Chip and PIN based card
• Always enter the PIN yourself and then sign the charge-slip
• Note that there would be merchants across the world using older technology terminals and hence, your card might also be swiped

• Don't share your PIN or write it down anywhere
• Do not reveal your PIN out loud or enter it when others are looking over your shoulder

• Do not share your Credit Card PIN with others
• Don't let anyone enter the PIN on your behalf. Always enter the PIN yourself
