What is the duration of Kotak NextGen Bankers Programme?

  • Stage 1: 4 Months Residential classroom programme at Manipal Academy of BFSI campus, Bengaluru
  • Stage 2: 2 Months On the Job Training with Kotak Mahindra Bank
  • Stage 3: 6 Months Internship with Kotak Mahindra Bank

Is the programme fully residential?

The Programme is fully residential during the first 4 months Classroom Programme. Hostel accommodation is provided to all students by Manipal Academy of BFSI. The course fee is inclusive of all boarding & lodging costs at Manipal campus.
Candidates will move to their respective branch location that is assigned to them for their OJT (Stage 2) and Internship (Stage 3).

Will Boarding & Lodging facility be covered in the course fee?

Boarding & lodging facility shall be provided only during the 4-Month classroom programme at Manipal Academy of BFSI campus located in Bengaluru. During OJT and Internship stages (Month 5 onwards), candidates need to arrange their own boarding & lodging facilities.

What is the Health Insurance coverage for the candidates during the programme?

Candidates are provided a health insurance coverage for the programme duration (12 months) for a sum up to INR 1 Lakh.

Is a job assured after the Programme?

All candidates who successfully complete all the stages of Kotak NextGen Bankers Programme will join Kotak Mahindra Bank as Branch Relationship Manager (Deputy Manager).

What are the details of the stipend paid to candidates during the programme?

All candidates are paid a stipend throughout the 12 month programme. The details are as below:

  • Stage 1 (Month 1 – 4): Manipal Academy of BFSI, Bengaluru – INR 5,000/Month
  • Stage 2 (Month 5 – 6): On the Job Training (OJT) – INR 10,000/Month
  • Stage 3 (Month 7 – 12): Internship – INR 25,000/Month

Will there be any probation period on joining the Kotak NextGen Bankers Programme?

Candidates joining the programme will have a probation period of 18 months from the Date of Joining.

Will the travel expense from Home location to Manipal Academy campus be reimbursed?

Expenses for travelling from home location to the Manipal Academy campus in Bengaluru have to be borne by the candidate. Kotak Mahindra Bank shall not reimburse the same.

Will the travel expense from Manipal Academy campus to Internship and OJT location be reimbursed?

Travel expense from Manipal Academy campus in Bengaluru to the branch/office location for OJT and Internship shall be reimbursed basis applicable HR policies of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.

What is the medium of study during the programme?

The medium of study will be English.

What will be the class schedule at Manipal Academy of BFSI, Bengaluru?

The classes will be held for 9 hours each day. The classes will be held 5 days a week.
On Saturdays, there would be field visits, leadership connects, branch visits etc.

What are the Salient Features of Kotak NextGen Bankers Programme?

  • The Programme has a wholesome curriculum comprising of classroom learnings, leadership sessions, e-learning, Internship and On-the-Job training.
  • The course structure includes sessions on core banking, specialized areas in banking, sales, general management, etiquette, grooming, personal presentation and language.
  • The classroom sessions (04 months) will be conducted at the Manipal Academy of BFSI campus at Bengaluru and On the Job Training OJT (02 months) + Internship (06 month) will take place at any of the Kotak Mahindra Bank branches/offices across India.
  • The candidates are paid stipend during their 04-month duration of the Classroom Programme and a stipend during the 08 months’ Internship and OJT period.
  • On successful completion of all stages of the Programme, the NextGen Bankers will be joining Kotak Mahindra Bank as Branch Relationship Manager (Deputy Manager).

Are leaves allowed during the Training programme?

Leave would be given only with the specific permission of the Head of Programme at Manipal University campus in Bengaluru and Programme Coordinator or Kotak Mahindra Bank HR Department. The same will be allowed at the sole discretion of Kotak Mahindra Bank.

What is the Assured Bonus component that has been mentioned in the Programme Details?

The bank shall provide a tenure based assured bonus of INR 1.5 lakh to the candidates as below:

  • INR 75,000 paid on completion of 24 months
  • INR 75,000 paid on completion of 36 months

It is subject to the condition that the candidate shall be in active employment with the Bank at the time of disbursement of the bonus.

What happens if I am unsuccessful at completing the programme?

The candidate is not entitled to seek an employment with Kotak Mahindra Bank if he/she is unable to complete the Program successfully and the offer letter stands withdrawn. Further, the Bank is not liable for any fees paid for the course to Manipal Academy of BFSI or any other expenses incurred with regards to the Program by the candidate.

What are the job locations where I may be posted after joining Kotak?

Kotak NextGen Bankers may be posted at any branch/office of Kotak Mahindra Bank across India. While preference of candidates may be asked, there is no guarantee that the same will be provided at the time of posting. Posting shall be on the basis of available vacancies across India.

What will the job of Branch Relationship Manager (Deputy Manager) entail?

The role offered will be a Sales role that will constitute of selling banking & financial products to the bank’s existing & new customers.

How to procure Education Loan for the programme?

Candidates will be provided with relevant contacts of banks in order to procure the loans for funding the programme. Further, the loan shall be provided at the sole discretion of the Financial Intermediary/Bank concerned.

Can I pay the fee without availing the loan facility?

Yes, candidates may self-fund their programme without availing to any loan facility.

What would the Job of a Branch Relationship Manager entail?

A. The Roles and Responsibilities of a Branch Relationship Manager (BRM) are:

  • Develops new and expands existing High Net worth Customer relationships for liabilities by sourcing customers
  • Sources new bank customers through external individual efforts and acquisition channel
  • Cross sells bank products to existing set of Branch customers which are mapped
  • Informs customers of new products or product enhancements to further expand the banking relationship
  • Plans and conducts special sales initiatives and events for prospective and existing clients
  • Coordinates with other group companies to provide seamless access to other products
  • Maintains complete relationship record for assigned customer accounts
  • Tracks customer complaints/queries and turnaround times for customer satisfaction

What is the course fee for Kotak NextGen Bankers Programme?

Candidates need to pay INR 2,80,000 (including taxes) to Manipal Academy of BFSI for the programme. The programme fee is inclusive of boarding & lodging, Android Tablet and health insurance coverage of the candidate. Please note that boarding & lodging facility is provided only during the 4-Month classroom programme at Manipal Academy of BFSI campus located in Bengaluru.

What is the Eligibility criteria for the Kotak NextGen Bankers Programme?

Candidates need to ensure eligibility conditions as follows:

  • Candidates shall have a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university
  • Candidates shall have a minimum score of 60% in Graduation for B.Sc/B.E/B.Tech
  • Candidates shall have a minimum score of 50% in Graduation for all other specialisations
  • Candidates shall not be older than 27 years on the date of application

What is the selection process for the programme?

The selection process would involve the following steps

  • Online Registration
  • Online Assessment
  • Personal Interview

Kotak Mahindra Bank can modify the selection process without any prior intimation.

Where will the 12 month Programme be conducted?

The first 4 months of the programme is of a fully residential classroom programme. The classroom programme shall be conducted on the Manipal Academy of BFSI campus in Bengaluru.
In the next 8 months, NextGen Bankers will undertake 2 months On-the-Job Training (OJT) and 6 months Internship. During the OJT and Internship, NextGen Bankers will be based at any of the Kotak Mahindra Bank Branches/Offices across the country. OJT and Internship placement locations are at the sole discretion of the bank.

What is the Degree/Diploma awarded at the end of this Programme?

On successful completion of the One Year Kotak NextGen Bankers Programme, candidates will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Relationship Banking (PGDRB) by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

When will I get the Degree/Diploma for the programme?

The PGDRB certificate will be issued on the successful completion of the Programme which means that the candidate needs to:

  • Successfully complete the 4-Month classroom programme
  • Fulfil other academic requirements as specified in the curriculum. These will include practical training, work visits, seminars, project submissions etc.
  • Successfully complete the 2 months of OJT.
  • Satisfactory performance during 6 months of Internship.

Would the programme entail any business targets?

There would not be any targets during the Classroom Programme at Manipal Academy of BFSI and On-the-Job Training (OJT). However during the internship (7-12 months), there will be real-time exposure and step-up targets assigned to NextGen Bankers to align them towards the role of a Branch Relationship Manager.
