What is a Personal Assurance Message (PAM)?

The Personal Assurance Message is created by you during the activation process, and will be displayed back to you when you are prompted for your password during Kotak Cards Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode Service password verification at checkout

 The Personal Assurance Message has been designed to reduce the risk of fraudulent merchants presenting false credentials to unknowing Internet users in order to gain access to personal financial information. So when the Kotak Cards Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode Service password window prompt includes your Personal Assurance Message, that gives you more assurance that it is actually Kotak Cards Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode Service asking you for your password, and not someone else masquerading as Kotak Cards Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode

How do I register/activate my Kotak Credit Card for Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode during shopping?

Here’s how you can register/activate your Kotak Credit Card during shopping:

 

  • Cardholder visits a Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode enabled merchant website.
  • Navigates through the site to select the shopping item.
  •  Cardholder proceeds to checkout & is asked to enter the customer details.
  •  Cardholder is then asked to fill in the relevant payment details, including the Card details.
  • Once the Cardholder clicks on the SUBMIT/PAY button, they are taken to the Kotak Cards Verified By Visa / MasterCard SecureCode screen wherein they have to enter certain details for validation. On successful validation, the customer is asked to create their Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode password.
  •   On successful creation of password, the transaction is authorized & the Cardholder is provided the order Reference Number [Depending on the Merchant].
  •   Cardholder will need to enter this password from next internet transaction using Kotak Card

What happens if I shop on a Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode enabled merchant, while I am not registered for Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode?

You will be prompted for online registration for Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode by Kotak Cards. For registration, you will need to first authenticate yourself by entering the details as required.

Post positive authentication, you need to create the password to be used for Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode. Thereafter, you can continue shopping on the merchant website.

If you decide not to register immediately and transact through your Credit Card, then your transaction may get declined and you may not be able to complete the transaction on such website.

Can I get the benefit of Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode security at online stores that are not participating in the service?

No. For the service to be active, the online store needs to participate in Verified By Visa/MasterCard SecureCode.
