Kotak Mahindra Bank Classic Debit Card combines the benefit of a regular ATM card and a payment card.

  2. Lost Card Liability Insurance of Rs. 100,000/-. The insurance covers any misuse up to 30 days prior to reporting of the lost card and 7 days after reporting.
  3. Purchase Protection for all consumer durable goods purchased using your Classic Debit Card are insured against fire, natural calamity, burglary and housebreaking up to 60 days from the date of purchase. You will be eligible for purchase protection up to Rs. 50,000/-.
  4. Offers & Discounts at Merchant Outlets in categories such as Lifestyle, Fine Dining, Travel, Health and Fitness
  5. Get an SMS and Email alert on your registered mobile phone and Email ID for every transaction done using your Classic Debit Card. All you need to do is sign up for the service.
  6. Gift an Add-on Card to your loved ones. Simply gift them an Add-on Card. The person you are gifting the Add-on Card to does not have to be an account holder with the Bank. The Add-on Card can be issued for any Resident Indian individuals above the age of 18 years. You can specify a daily limit up to which the Add-on Cardholder can withdraw at any ATM or use for purchases - dual advantage of giving your loved ones freedom to spend while controlling how much they can spend on their card. The transactions done by them will automatically get debited to your account.

Where can I use my Kotak Mahindra Bank - Classic Debit Card?

At Kotak Mahindra Bank ATMs

For your convenience, we have installed state of the art touch screen ATMs that allow you to access your accounts 24 hours a day.

At Kotak Mahindra Bank ATMs you can Check your account balance, Withdraw cash, Deposit cash/cheques, Transfer funds between your accounts with the Bank, Print Account Snapshot showing recent transactions, Order account statements, Request for a cheque book and Change your Personal Identification Number (PIN).

At Merchant Establishments

Your Kotak Classic Debit Card is has acceptance at all Merchant Establishments affiliated to VISA.. You can access only your Primary Account* for transactions at Merchant Establishments.

*You can specify any account to be your Primary Account. In the absence of any instructions your first account opened with us will by default be treated as your Primary Account.

Your Card brings you a host of convenience which you can start using right away at ATM or merchant outlets. Once you use your Card with your ATM PIN, your card will be ready for use at online shopping portals. Alternatively,

  • SMS "K POSACT D" (D - Last 4 digits of your Debit Card) from your preferred mobile number registered with us to 9971056767 / 5676788 OR
  • Clicking on "Banking ->Service Requests-> New Service Request -> Debit Card Activation for use at Merchant Establishments" link after logging into Net Banking.

At VISA/PLUS ATMs
You can use your Classic Debit Card at all Visa ATMs in India or abroad. Refer General Schedule of Features and Charges (GSFC).

You can enquire on the balance in your account or withdraw cash.

At other Bank ATMs, you can access upto one savings account and current account (if your Primary Account is a savings account, then the first saving account opened by you can be accessed and vice versa).

How does Kotak Mahindra Bank Debit Card work at Merchant Establishments?

Kotak Mahindra Bank Classic India Debit Card works in 4 easy steps at Merchant Establishments, your account will be automatically debited for the amount of your purchase.

  • Merchant dips/swipe the card in the POS terminal.
  • The merchant then enters the transaction amount.
  • The POS terminal prompts for a PIN which has to be entered by you.
  • You enter the 6 digit ATM PIN to complete the transaction and authorize the same with a signature.

Use your Kotak Mahindra Bank Debit Cards at Kotak Mahindra Bank ATMs absolutely free. Charges for using the debit cards at other bank ATMs are governed by RBI regulations. For more information on charges, refer to the General Schedule of Features and Charges (GSFC).

Immediately inform our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre at 1800 102 6022. visit any of our branches and request for a new card.

What do I do to activate my card?

  • All Chip Debit Cards will be enabled for international ATM, POS, Ecom usage.
  • All Non Chip Debit Cards issued on or after December 1, 2013, cannot be used outside India.

What should I do if my Kotak Classic Debit Card is lost or damaged?

Immediately inform our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre at 1800 102 6022 or visit any of our branches, hotlist your existing card and request for a new debit card.

What does the Lost Card Liability Insurance cover include?

In case your Kotak Classic Debit Card is lost or stolen, HDFC Ergo General Insurance Co. Ltd. will reimburse the unauthorized purchase charges on your lost or stolen card, up to 30 days prior to your first reporting and 7 days post reporting the event to Kotak Customer Contact Centre.

Insurance is provided on the primary card, add-on and supplementary cards. Kotak Mahindra Bank will not responsible for any disputes arising out of any claims. All claims will be directly handled by HDFC Ergo General Insurance Co. Ltd.

What does the Lost Card Liability Insurance cover exclude?

HDFC Ergo General Insurance Co. Ltd. will not pay for any expenses or loss for:

  • Transactions made on your lost or stolen Debit Card more than 30 Days prior to your first reporting the event to Kotak Customer Contact Centre.
  • Any loss or damage arising out of Card transactions authorized using PIN issued to the Cardholder by the Bank
  • Any loss or damage arising out of Internet Based transaction.
  • Transactions made on your Debit Card if your Debit Card has not been lost or stolen
  • ATMs cash withdrawal made with your lost or stolen Debit Card;
  • Transactions made by a resident of your household, or by a person entrusted with your Debit Card.

What is the total sum insured under Lost Card Liability?

The sum insured is Rs. 100,000/- for a year.

In case I lose the card more than once will the insurance cover hold?

Surely, the insurance cover will hold up to the amount, regardless of the number of times the card may be lost / stolen.

What do I have to do, incase my Debit Card is lost or stolen?

You need to immediately inform the Bank by calling the Call our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre at 1800 102 6022 or by visiting any Kotak Mahindra Bank branch and get your Kotak Classic Debit Card hotlisted. In case of any fraudulent transactions that may have taken place on the debit card, you will need to lodge a claim by submitting the documents as and when required by HDFC Ergo General Insurance Co. Ltd.

You can claim fraudulent transactions by using simple steps:

What is the Purchase Protection Insurance Cover on the Kotak Classic Debit Card?

Kotak Mahindra Bank gives you complimentary insurance cover on your Kotak Classic Debit Card.

All consumer durable goods purchased using your Classic Debit Card are insured against fire, natural calamity, burglary and housebreaking upto 60 days from the date of purchase subject to the terms and conditions of the HDFC Ergo General Insurance Co. Ltd availed by the Bank.
