How do I identify the correct mVISA/ Bharat QR Code to initiate the transaction?

Spot the mVISA / Bharat QR logo along with the QR Code.
Please ensure you don't confuse the same with a QR code of any other service provider.

Do I need to enter the ATM PIN to carry out a Scan & Pay transaction?

No, ATM PIN is not required to complete the Scan & Pay transaction. But, you will be asked to enter the MPIN in order to login to Kotak Mobile Banking app as per the existing process.

Do I need to register separately to do Scan & Pay transaction?

No, you don't need to register separately for carrying out the Scan & Pay transaction.

Do I need to update my mobile app to carry out the Scan & Pay transaction?

Yes, Scan & Pay feature is available on the latest android & iOS versions.

Is there any transaction limit on Kotak Scan & Pay transaction?

The maximum limit per transaction is Rs. 50,000. The Scan & Pay daily transaction limit will be as per the existing card limit.

Is Scan & Pay transaction an alternative to conventional swipe/dip transaction at merchant outlets?

Yes, instead of swiping/ inserting the card at the merchant terminal or entering one time password at online store, now you can log into your Kotak Mobile Banking app through your 6 digit mPIN and click on the Scan & Pay tab to initiate the transaction.

Is Scan & Pay transaction safe?

Yes, it is as safe as any of the existing card payment mechanism.

Will I be provided an option to select between Kotak Credit Card and Kotak Debit Card at the time of payment?

Yes, you will be provided with a choice to select between a Kotak Credit Card and Kotak Debit Card each time you initiate Scan & Pay transaction.

Will I be able to do Scan & Pay transaction even if I don't have any active Kotak Card?

No, you must have at least one active Kotak Credit or Debit card in order to carry out Scan & Pay transaction.

Can I make bill payments through Scan & Pay?

Yes, you can make bill payments through Scan & Pay option provided the merchant accepts Scan & Pay transactions.  Spot the Bharat QR or mVISA QR code available in your bill to do Scan & Pay transaction.

Can I make online transaction through Scan & Pay?

Yes, there are some merchants like TATA SKY, IDEA CELLULAR and more that generate/display QR code on their website. You can scan the QR code available on their website and do the Scan & Pay transaction for any payments to be made to them.


Step 1: Look for the Bharat QR / mVISA logo.
Step 2: Log into Kotak Mobile Banking app through your 6 digit mPIN
Step 3: Click on the Scan & Pay icon to initiate payment
Step 4: Scan the QR code
Step 5: Select your card and enter the amount
Step 6: Confirm the payment
Step 7: Save your invoice on your mobile device
