Things to know before you applyKotak Mahindra Bank Payment Gateway is a web based service which enables you to make online purchases across various shopping sites or to transfer money from your registered Kotak Mahindra Bank Account(s) to your trading account with brokers like Kotak Securities and many more. You can also make utility payments, subscribe to magazines, pay insurance premia or make donations online. Currently we have tied up with a few esteemed brokers for Payment Gateway access to Kotak Online Trading, with IndiaIdeas ,CC Avenue, Times Of Money (a master merchant that has a tie up with number of merchants (online shopping sites) for online payment facility) for Payment Gateway access to kotak - Online Shopping. Going forward we shall be enabling this service for a host of other online merchants.
You can access this service by visiting various shopping sites that we have tied up with.
Payment Gateway is available to customers of Kotak Mahindra Bank who have availed of Net Banking facility and are registered for Kota Payment Gateway. NRIs, foreigners and people with conditional operating authority are currently not eligible for Payment Gateway
- You can avail Payment Gateway by logging on Net banking and clicking on the Request section. If you are a new customer, you can avail this service by ticking the Payment Gateway option on the account opening form
- If you are an existing customer, by ticking the Payment Gateway option in the Channel Access Request Form
- If you are an individual customer, click here to download the form.
- If you are an operating authority of a company / club / society / association / partnership / sole proprietorship / HUF, click here to download the form.

If you are already a registered Kotak Mahindra Bank Net Banking customer, you can log in to Net Banking on www.kotak.com and click on 'Requests' option post logging in and select Register for Payment Gateway.
If you are an existing customer and are registered for Payment Gateway, you will automatically be enabled for Kotak Online Trading, and Kotak - Online Shopping services of Kotak Mahindra Bank Payment Gateway depending on your eligibility. If you are a new customer, registering for Payment Gateway as mentioned above will enable you for this facility depending on your eligibility.
All individual customers except Minors, with unconditional operating authority on any Kotak Mahindra Bank Savings / Current account can get Payment Gateway Kotak Online Trading Access, Kotak Payment Gateway kotak - Online Shopping Access.
When you register for Payment Gateway service, all existing eligible accounts (or those opened in the future) under your Customer Relationship Number with us will automatically get access to Payment Gateway Kotak Online Trading, kotak - Online Shopping
In case you wish to,
- register only for one of the three services - Kotak Online Trading / Kotak Direct Pay / kotak Online Shopping or
- have different accounts enabled for each of the services or
- restrict any of your accounts from having access to any of the three services
You simply need to write in to us specifying what you wish us to do. Drop your request either in the Document Drop Boxes at our Branches or ATM lobbies. Alternatively you may mail it to us at Customer Contact Centre, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Post Box Number 16344, Mumbai 400 013. You may also advise us via our Secure Mail facility by logging in to Kotak Mahindra Bank Net Banking and clicking on the My Mail link on the top right hand red band.
No. As transactions will be done in a completely secure environment you can make payments up to the available balance in your selected account. Shopping transactions done through shopping sites through our tie up with CC Avenue, at per transaction / day limit has been fixed at Rs.50,000.
There are currently no charges for using Kotak Mahindra Bank Payment Gateway services. We are offering the facility of making payments for online trading, online shopping, making utility payments / donations and paying for subscriptions/insurance premium online absolutely free as a value added convenience for all our customers.
You need to register for Payment Gateway as explained above. You need to have your Net Banking User ID and Password ready

You are on merchant site (e.g. kotaksecurities.com); you choose to pay the merchant using your Kotak Mahindra Bank Account. |

Kotak - Online Shopping
You are on merchant site (e.g. indian-airlines.nic.in). Enter all details as required by the merchant site and choose to pay using your Kotak Mahindra Bank Account. |

You enter your Net Banking User ID and Password and put in online request. Your account is debited and the merchant is paid. |
You will have to complete the purchase transaction by clicking "Please click here to complete the transaction" on the Kotak Mahindra Payment Gateway confirmation page. |
NO. A payment once confirmed cannot be cancelled as the same is debited to the customer account online. You will need to contact the Company / Merchant to whom the payment is made for a refund in case you wish to cancel your payment.
You can make utility payments, insurance premia payments and subscriptions or purchase through online shopping on any one else's behalf using Kotak Mahindra Bank Payment Gateway Services. You simply need to enter online details pertaining to the person on whose behalf you are making online payments. Please note, however you are not to pay for Online Trading on behalf of anyone else as per SEBI guidelines. You should only transfer money using Kotak Mahindra Bank Payment Gateway from your Bank account to your Trading Account with Kotak Securities or other brokers we have a tie up with.
For all payments made through Payment Gateway services like Kotak Online Trading, and Kotak - Online Shopping you will get a confirmation screen showing details of the payments made and a unique reference number for the transaction. Additionally in your Statement of Accounts, all online utility payments / purchases will be reflected.
Please check your User ID and password. Please note that password is case sensitive ('a' is different from 'A'). The other reasons for error could be:
- Your browser is not compatible with our application. Please use Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher version. Kotak Net Banking is also compatible with Internet Explorer 8.
- You have entered the wrong password three times in a day. Your User ID is locked in this case to prevent somebody from guessing your password and getting access to your account. Your User ID will automatically get enabled the next day.
- You have instructed us to block your Net Banking User ID. If you want to unblock your User ID, please call our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre.
- Our server may be temporarily down on account of maintenance/ upgrade activities, please try logging in after some time.
Yes. You can request for Payment Gateway revocation by giving written request to the Bank. Simply drop your request either in the Document Drop Boxes at our Branches or ATM lobbies. Alternatively you may mail it to us at Customer Contact Centre, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Post Box Number 16344, Mumbai 400 013. You may also advise us via our secure mail facility by logging in to Kotak Mahindra Bank Net Banking and clicking on the Inbox link on the top right hand corner of the screen.
You can request for revocation at three levels:
- Request for removing access to Kotak Mahindra Bank Payment Gateway service totally
- Request for removing access to either Kotak Online Trading or Kotak - Online Shopping service retaining access to the other service
- Request for moving access for specific accounts to Kotak Mahindra Bank Payment Gateway and all its services or only from a specific service - Kotak Online Trading or Kotak - Online Shopping.
Please ensure your Request clearly states your Customer Relationship Number and which option you are requesting for. In case of account level access removal please ensure you have clearly stated your required account no(s). Your Request will be processed within 3 working days of receipt of your request.
